History Of The Show

The History of Dropkick Radio

Dropkick Radio began as a sister show The Squared Circle Radio Show (TSC for short) in January 2008. Jeremy, who’d had been a regular guest on TSC, wanted to start a show where each of the major wrestling television shows would be reviewed. And so, TSC’s sister show was born under the name ‘TSC2′.

Every week we’d review the 3 WWE shows ‘Monday Night Raw’, ECW, & ‘Smackdown’. But we also reviewed TNA’s weekly TV show ‘Impact’.

A short time after our debut, it was decided to change the name of the show. There were various reasons for this, but the main being, so we could build our own identity along side The Squared Circle.

In March 2008, it was decided that The Squared Circle would broadcast it’s final show on April 4th (the week after WWE’s Wrestlemania 24 PPV). After this announcement, we at Dropkick Radio felt it was as good as time as ant to expand the show. It was decided that a Live broadcast in a similar format to TSC would be aired every Sunday over the internet And on April 27th, Dropkick Radio went Live!

Unfortunately this achievement fof the show was short lived, as due to circumstances that were completely out of our control, the Live show was canceled. But, there’s nothing to say we won’t go Live again in the future! But one fact that can never be taken away from Dropkick Radio, is that we went Live!

At this point we continued to review the weeks wrestling television shows. But the show was being hit with more obstacles, as 3 of the shows co-hosts (Martyn, Angelina & Nick) had to go on hiatus for a while, leaving Jeremy and Graeme to review the shows each week, with the occasional appearance from Nick when available.

But, through hard work and dedication, the show continued. Producing regular shows each week reviewing all the shows and PPV events. These shows included many memorable moments that won’t soon be forgotten.

Now we move forward to June 2008. After much discussion, it was decided to expand the show once again, but remaining as a weekly podcast.

The format being 2 shows a week. One focusing on the WWE, the other focusing on the wrestling world beyond the WWE. And so, two new shows were born, the ‘Slobber-Knocker’ where the focus on the WWE. And the ‘wrestling universe’ where the focus would be everywhere else in wrestling.

Whilst we really like the format of the show, schedules we’re beginning to conflict on various occasions. It was decided from August 16th 2008, we’d now be producing one podcast a week released every Saturday which would cover everything we focused on over two shows.

This includes discussion on the weeks TV shows from WWE & TNA, as well as discussion from promotions the world over.

There’s something for everyone on Dropkick Radio.
